Mayor Mario B. Avery and Assistant City Administrator attend 2023 Public Safety Memorial Ceremony

Today, Friday, May 5, 2023, Mayor Mario B. Avery and Assistant City Administrator, Mrs. Jamila Criss, had the honor to stand alongside members of the Fairburn Police and Fire Departments at the 2023 Georgia Public Safety Memorial Ceremony. This ceremony was held to honor Georgia Public Safety Personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in 2021 and 2022.

The late Sgt. Jean-Harold Astree with the Fairburn Police Department was honored during this ceremony, witnessed by his wife, Mrs. Kerry Ann Astree, and fellow family members and loved ones. It is the City of Fairburn's esteemed duty and privilege to honor Sgt. Astree and the other heroes who have made such a difference. We will never forget their sacrifice.

* Sgt. Astree was posthumously promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.
