Citizens Police Academy

The objective of the Citizens Police Academy is to maintain positive communication between the agency and community through education and training. The Fairburn Citizens Police Academy includes 12 hours of skilled and professional instruction in two-hour sessions.
The classes are free, but a one-night-per-week commitment for five weeks is required.
Classes are held on Thursday evenings, starting March 27, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The classes will be held in the council chambers of City Hall at 56 SW Malone Street Fairburn, Georgia 30213 and the Fairburn Annex Building located 40 Washington Street Fairburn, Georgia 30213
How are Participants Selected?
The Fairburn Citizens Police Academy should be comprised of a diverse group of participants. Twenty-Five (25) applicants will be selected to participate. Potential candidates for the Citizens Police Academy should meet the following criteria:
- Be a resident of the City of Fairburn; or
- Be a Fairburn business owner; or
- Be an employee of the City of Fairburn
- Minimum 21 Years of Age
- No Felony Convictions
- No Misdemeanor convictions within one year of application
A standard background check will be completed after completing the application, consent forms, and waiver forms.
