City of Fairburn Police Department Spreads Holiday Cheer to Families During Blue Light Christmas Event
On Tuesday, December 19, 2023, the City of Fairburn Police Department supported over 30 children and families through its Annual Blue Light Christmas Program. Blue Light Christmas is a program created by the Fairburn Police Department, in which law enforcement personnel accompany children from families experiencing financial hardships to shop for Christmas gifts.
“The Blue Light Christmas Program has been in operation for the last several years and has successfully spread the holiday cheer with the help of our community,” said Mayor Mario B. Avery. “The City acknowledges it’s personal commitment to spreading holiday cheer to local families that truly need it.”
Families were welcomed to the Fairburn Annex for a brief presentation and were then escorted to Target. The children are each assigned a police officer to shop with and were each given a set amount of money to spend as they wish for items for Christmas.
“The Fairburn Police Department is thankful to be able to support families who are experiencing financial hardships. This is a time to enjoy one another’s company and make everyone’s holidays a little brighter,” said Police Chief Anthony Bazydlo. “The Fairburn Police Department would also like to give a special thanks to all who have donated to make this event so successful each year.”
