Fairburn Takes Care of Its Own: City Council Boosts Tax Relief for Senior Residents
The City of Fairburn City Council has unanimously approved an amendment to increase the Homestead Exemption for residents who are 70 years of age and older and for disabled residents. This amendment, effective January 1, 2025, provides a significant financial benefit to eligible homeowners by offering an exemption on $30,000 of the assessed value of their primary residence.
“This increased exemption is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting our senior and disabled residents, ensuring they can continue to live comfortably and securely in their homes,” said Mario B. Avery, Mayor of Fairburn. “We recognize the importance of easing the financial burden for those who have contributed so much to our community.”
