The City of Fairburn is aware of two recent fires that occurred at the Safeguard Landfill located on 6895 Roosevelt Highway, Fairburn, GA 30213. The first fire was reported on Friday, October 11, 2024, followed by a second incident in a different location on the property early this morning, October 16, 2024.

The City of Fairburn City Council has unanimously approved an amendment to increase the Homestead Exemption for residents who are 70 years of age and older and for disabled residents. This amendment, effective January 1, 2025, provides a significant financial benefit to eligible homeowners by offering an exemption on $30,000 of the assessed value of their primary residence.

The City of Fairburn is expanding its youth sports programming with the addition of a new soccer initiative. After the recent approval of a facility usage agreement between the Parks and Recreation Department and Kids with Goals Futbol Club, youth soccer will be offered at Duncan Park’s Baseball Field #6 (lower baseball field), located at 6000 Rivertown Road, Fairburn, GA 30213.
